Vera Sue Walker, known as 'Ms. Sue', was born in
Anderson, South Carolina on December 28, 1918 to the late Ollie and Onie Walker. She was the second oldest of nine siblings. Her family moved to Winston Salem, North Carolina while she was very young. She received her education in the Forsyth County public schools and graduated from Atkins High School, Class of 1936. She attended Winston Salem Teachers College (WSSU) studying in early childhood education.

She was a skilled seamstress, homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and friend. She loved children, playing bingo, taking long walks in the neighborhood, and helping others. She deeply touched the lives of all by her genuine smile and sense of humor that warmed the hearts of all those that met her, in good times and in bad times.

In 1993 she moved to Waldorf, Maryland where she resided with her oldest daughter, Vera Josette Walker where she then became a Mormon by faith. On April 28, 2008 at the age of 89, she went home peacefully to be with our Lord and Savior at Civista Medical Center, LaPlata, Maryland.

She leaves to cherish her memory:
