Gene was born into this world and lived like any other man
Until the day he was touched by the Saviors hand
His ears, and eyes were opened to see
The love and forgiveness that was his for free.

He cried out, Lord I'm a sinner and need you right now
To cleanse me and forgive me, to you Lord I bow
From that day forward he was a different man
His mind was set on things above, his new promised land.

Forgetting the past, leaving his old life behind
In walked in newness of life with Jesus on his mind
His heart now settled, his thoughts on heaven above
He followed the voice of His Shepherd and walked in his love.

A new relationship with Jesus guided him through each day
All things had become new the past was washed away
He found a place to worship, praise and pray
Everyone knew where to find him on any given day.

Attending every service, standing strong in his faith
Standing with his family as they grew in love and grace
His life and love soon became an example to all he knew
Talking about Jesus and His love was all he wanted to do.

He was faithful to God all the days of his life
That faithfulness was also to others especially his wife
If there was a need, no one even had to ask
Gene was always there ready to fulfill any task.

Gene found the place where he belonged
He was willing to teach and lead in song
In his church he was faithful year after year
Doing what he could for all those he held dear.

Gene had one purpose, he kept heaven on his mind
He triumphed through this life through both good and hard times
He never complained and with His Savior he pressed on
Walking as a soldier in God's army until his purpose his was done.

He suffers no more, he has finished the race
He now walks on streets of gold with Jesus face to face
A place where there is no sorror, no pain and no loss
Rejoicing in the day when he received the sacrfice of the cross.

All glory to Jesus he stood true to his faith
He walks now with Jesus understanding His grace.
His greatest hearts desire to his family would be,
Is that you follow his footsteps into eternity.

He is waiting and watching from heaven above,
And hoping you have received all of Gods love
So sons, and grandchildren, and family and friends
Know that his life is not over, nor did it end

Gene has passed through this place to our heavenly home
Where he can see Our Saviors face and bow at His throne
Where worship and praise fill the heavens all around
Finally his feet are standing on perfect Holy Ground.

Even though I know we will all miss him very much .
On this earth what matters is the lives that he touched.
He showed many that Jesus is the way, the truth and the light,
Gene taught us to hold on to Jesus with all of our might.

And though he is not with us, we know he has entered Heaven's door
His life and his memories we will savor so much, and much more.
For all the good times and the love that we shared
Will always be with us because we know that he cared

A loved one, and friend, has been lost for a time
He has gone on before us, and left us behind.
But there will come a time of rejoicing again one day
When we will all be together as this life passes away.



So today I say good bye to someone who was more that a friend,
He stood right beside me right up until the end.
He knew not how much he meant to us, his smile and his love
But the day will soon come when we will
all walk the streets of gold above
