Jeremiah 18:1-4
"The word which came to Jeremiah from
the Lord, saying,
Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will
cause thee to hear my words.
Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he
wrought a work on the wheels.
And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand
of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as
seemed good to the potter to make it."
God is the Master Potter, and He works in
our lives to
makes us vessels of honor. He molds us and makes us
into what He desires us to be. Sometimes the process is
painful, for a Potter has to squeeze and mold the clay
to fashion it into what He has in mind.
Our part in the process is to yield to the
pressure of
the Potter's capable Hands. He knows what He is doing,
although we may not understand. He has a plan for each
of our lives, and He is working it out.
What happens if we stumble and fall and our
vessel is
broken or marred? He just lovingly picks up the pieces
and stars the process again. God, in His infinite mercy
and patience, doesn't throw away the 'clay', as some
people might do.
God is patient and sometimes He has to mend
the clay
over and over. Does He grow weary of doing that? No,
for His Word says His mercies are new every morning. He
will just keep working with the clay until He has a
beautiful vessel, without spot or wrinkle. He keeps molding
and making us until we become what He has desired
us to be along. He will keep working with us until we
are conformed into the image of His Son, Jesus.
Romans 8:28
"And we know that all things work
together for good to them that
love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be
conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn
among many brethren."
